A simple little wreath with a nod to the cleanish curves of a coathanger.
SUPPLIES
a wire coathanger
5-10 acorns
wax paper
scissors
sewing machine and thread
a few sprigs of evergreen
a few magnolia leaves
a little bit of twine
pieces of ornament hanging wire (optional)
First twist the coathanger into the shape of a circle and loop the ends securely.
Visit your trusty sewing machine friend and pick a thread color that suits your fancy. Then use the scissors to cut three or four rectangles or triangles which can be folded over to comfortably house an acorn.
Using a decorative or simple stitch and beginning in the top center of each acorn packet, sew the acorn into its wax paper packet. Leave varying lengths of thread tails (between 5 and 10 inches) on each acorn package. Do this for 3-10 acorns.
Use the thread tail to tie your acorns to the bottom of the wire wreath.
Cut a few lenths of matching thread (or use the ornament hanging wire as I did) to secure your evergreen springs to the wire. Wrap it around the base and one more time somewhere in the center of each sprig.
